The Wodonga Warriors Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat The Wangaratta Rangers

The Wodonga Warriors stole the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over the Wangaratta Rangers in their A Grade clash on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Wodonga batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jesse Griffiths doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and giving them the lead they never gave up. Wangaratta got things started in the first inning when Fraser Chadwick induced Cameron Scott to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored as they opened up their account.

Griffiths was credited with the victory for the Warriors as he went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out six batters in an excellent pitching display. Aaron Parker took the loss for the Rangers after he went eight innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits and striking out three. Chadwick started the game for Wodonga surrendering three runs on three hits over five innings, striking out five.

Wodonga Warriors tallied 11 hits in the game, Cale FlandersCody Mendham, and Griffiths each had multiple hits to lead their team to victory. Owen Godenzi went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Wangaratta Rangers in hits.

Borella Shines At The Plate In the Albury Bears Victory Over The Benalla Bandits A Grade

Four hits from Ash Borella paved the way to victory for the Albury Bears over the Benalla Bandits 41-1 on Sunday. Borella homered in the second, tripled in the second, doubled in the second, and doubled in the fourth.

Albury secured the victory thanks to 30 runs in the second inning. BorellaMark TaylorJacob PontonGreg DanielJono Sassella, and Borella each had RBIs in the frame. The Albury Bears fired up the offense in the first inning, when Tom Simmons doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. They rallied in a massive 30 runs in the second inning. BorellaTaylorPontonDanielSassella, and Borella all drove in runs in the frame.

Simmons was on the hill for Albury he went two innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out five and walking one. Dwayne Yates started the game for Benalla, he surrendered nine runs on three hits over one inning. Cheyne Osbourne and Ashley Cartledge entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

The Bears tallied 31 hits. BorellaTaylorAlex ClaytonBrandon PurtellLuke AntoneDanielPontonTrent Brown, and Simmons all collected multiple hits for as ClaytonTaylor, and Borella each collected four hits to lead the Albury Bears A Gradde side. Yates led Benalla with two hits in three at bats.

B GRADE

Despite Collecting 13 Hits, the Wodonga Warriors Falls To the Wangaratta Rangers in B Grade

The Wodonga Warriors fell 10-5 to the Wangaratta Rangers on Sunday despite out-hitting them 13 to eight. Wodonga captured the lead in the first inning scoring two runs when Jonte Craig doubled after Wangaratta scored only one run in their first inning. Wangaratta regained the lead for good with three runs in the second inning. Angus King to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored and Steve Peruzzo doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring a further two runs. The Rangers scored another five runs over the third and forth inning before the Warriors answered when Kane Scott singled on the first pitch of his at bat, scoring one run.

Jason Jonker was on the hill for Wangaratta, he surrendered five runs on 13 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Clear was on the pitcher's mound for Wodonga, he lasted three innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out three. Vaughn Clarke threw two innings in relief.

Wodonga Warriors 13 hits on the day came from ScottAndrew WealClearCraig, and ClarkeScott went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.

The Rangers had eight hits in the game. Peruzzo and Burder all managed multiple hits but it was the Wangaratta Rangers sure-handed field that didn't commit a single error that ultimately gave them the win. Burder made the most plays with five.

Albury Bears Drop Game To Wangaratta Rangers Grey After Late Score

The Albury Bears B Grade side stayed in it until the end, but Wangaratta Rangers Grey pulled away late in a 5-4 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at four with Wangaratta batting in the top of the fifth when Heath French's sac fly scored one run for 2021 Senior Wangaratta Rangers Grey B Grade.

The Albury Bears lost despite out-hitting the Rangers Grey 13 to three. Wangaratta fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jake Burge induced Brendon Cameron to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Albury Bears knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Sean Wilson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Brendon French led things off on the pitcher's mound for Wangaratta, he surrendered five runs on 13 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 11 and walking none. Burge led things off on the hill for Albury, he allowed three hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four.

BurgeJohnny RodriguezWilson, and Sean Stuchbery each racked up multiple hits for Albury, Rodriguez and Burge all had three hits to lead Albury Bears B Grade side. Enrique led 2021 Senior Wangaratta Rangers Grey B Grade with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.
